Welcome to the official website of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Budapest.

On behalf of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Hungary, I would like to warmly welcome the distinguished visitors to our digital portal. We envision this platform as a bridge between the embassy and those seeking its services and ideas. This website serves as a repository of basic information about Hungary, outlines Embassy activities, and provides consular services. We appreciate your valuable feedback, which will play a crucial role in enhancing the effectiveness of the portal. Hungary is a sovereign, safe, and family-friendly country located in the heart of Central Europe. The State of Qatar and Hungary have a strong strategic partnership, as Qatar has emerged as a major ally of Hungary in the Gulf region and the Middle East.

Our bilateral relations have flourished, going beyond political and economic spheres to include cultural and sports exchanges. Amid the dynamic and challenging global landscape, we recognize the growing importance of deepening cooperation between our two countries. Hungary, a Western-oriented country, stands as a consistent member of Western alliances, while at the same time working to strengthen practical relations and cooperation with a variety of global partners, including Qatar. The primary mission of our embassy is to represent the State of Qatar and the Qatari people and to protect their interests within Hungary.

Our firm commitment lies in enhancing economic and tourism cooperation and building on our exceptional bilateral relations. Our dedicated employees work hard to achieve this goal, fulfilling their responsibilities with unwavering dedication. Qatar is a sovereign state extending on a peninsula extending into the Arabian Gulf, roughly the dimensions of two Hungarian provinces. For decades, Qatar has consistently ranked among the safest countries in the world, a testament to its unwavering commitment to security and well-being. Despite its modest size, Qatar has the third largest natural gas reserve in the world, with LNG exports as the main source of revenue. This valuable natural resource easily reaches Hungary via the terminal on the island of Krk, making a significant contribution to Hungary's energy independence. Leveraging its global economic standing, Qatar is actively seeking to emerge on the international stage. Qatar Airways, one of the world's most famous airlines, proudly sponsors many cultural and sporting events around the world.

Moreover, the Arab Emirate owns significant stakes in famous European football clubs. As Qatar hosted the 2022 FIFA World Cup in the capital, Doha, as well as Al Khor, Lusail and Al Wakrah, Qatar is investing heavily in the World Cup for the coming years and the goal is to make Qatar a tourist destination and a global commercial center. Qatar Foundation brings together organizations working in the fields of health, education, research and development, and humanitarian aid. The main goal of the Foundation is to develop human resources at the local and international levels. There is a small Hungarian community of about 400 people living in Qatar. Most of them come to Qatar to work, but some have settled down and started a family.

The community includes nurses, IT professionals, lawyers, flight attendants, doctors, pilots, athletic trainers, musicians, and even oil rig operators. The main mission of the Hungarian Embassy in Qatar is to represent Hungary and the Hungarian people and to protect their interests in Qatar. The embassy's goal is to further enhance economic and tourism cooperation based on the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries. Embassy staff work hard to achieve this goal every day as part of their basic duties.
